Moving Miles for Forests Launch

At CHR, we believe in taking responsibility for the environmental impact of our work and have recently launched our CHR for Nature initiative to help both the environment and society. We have partnered with several rewilding initiatives and plant trees for certain aspects of our work that increase greenhouse emissions, most notably the flights our team use to attend conferences across the globe.

COVID-19 has caused air travel to come to a halt, which has had the immediate positive effect of reducing our carbon footprint, however the lack of flights has meant that the number of trees we are planting has also fallen. As a new initiative, we are now launching ‘Moving Miles for Forests’, where we will plant trees based on the miles our team cover through exercise. This will allow employees to improve their health, whether through walking, running, cycling, swimming, etc. all the while helping to support our rewilding schemes.

To encourage the team to keep exercising, we will be setting monthly team-based challenges, where a large target distance will be set requiring the CHR team to work together to achieve the distance. The challenges will reflect the miles we would have travelled to reach some of the conferences we had planned to attend.

Furthermore, in our latest edition of the CHRonicle, our internal Newsletter, we have introduced a photo competition for the most stunning imagery. To be in with a chance of winning some great prizes, our Employees will have to go out and explore their natural surroundings, clocking up the distance for ‘Moving Miles for Forests’ at the same time!
