Frederick Cheng

Frederick has over 20 years of experience in R&D, business development, merger, and acquisition. His focus areas include oncology, ophthalmology, and cell and gene therapies.

Currently, Frederick lives in Shanghai while serving as a healthcare investment professional. Before that, Frederick held multiple leadership positions in biotech and biopharma across Asia, including SanBio [Tokyo], CStone [Shanghai], Santen [Singapore] and HUTCHMED [Shanghai]. He started his career as an application scientist with QIAGEN, an in-vitro diagnostics company.

Born in Yancheng, China, he speaks English, Mandarin, and several Yancheng dialects.

He then moved to Singapore in high school. He later received his BSc and PhD in Biochemistry from the National University of Singapore and MSc in Management from ESSEC Business School.
