With an increasingly competitive job market in academia for STEM PhDs, graduates are leveraging their skills toward alternative careers such as consulting. CHR associates, Ahmed and Raymond, shared their journey from academia to consulting by taking part in a webinar ‘Careers in Life Science Consulting’ organised by King’s College London.

It was an excellent opportunity for our associates to share their experience of moving from academia into life sciences consulting. The webinar also gave Ahmed and Raymond the opportunity to share a glimpse of what it is like working at CHR, from our culture, to the type of work we do for clients. Most importantly, our associates managed to highlight the most important transferable skills that are needed to make a successful transition from PhD to consulting.

The great turnout of 51 attendees made for a excellent panel discussion. Overall, attendees were very engaging, and were very keen to learn about consulting life and what CHR has to offer. There were also many questions on what to expect from the recruitment process. Some of the attendees have subsequently taken part in our April’s ‘Meet the Team’ event to learn more about our working culture, and applied to our recent recruitment round.
