As June begins, so does Sustainability Month at Cambridge Healthcare Research [CHR]. This year we are focusing on what it means to be a sustainable business, with an emphasis on community engagement. CHR has never been one to adopt a passive approach, and therefore Sustainability Month feels like a natural celebration as we recognise ten years of our business. Throughout the past decade we have always been passionate about sustainable growth, prioritizing a commitment to sustainability-centred mission and values. We can’t wait for you all to join us on our journey this June, reflecting on what Sustainability means to us and our community.

In the last decade, we have made significant strides in driving positive change, both in our local community and globally. CHR for Society is our long-standing Environmental, Social and Governance [ESG] initiative, which has defined what sustainable business means in practice. Through CHR for Society we have donated time, money and resources to health, education, environmental, and community causes. These have included supporting students in their journey to improve healthcare outcomes, fundraising for Age UK, rewilding partnerships, community action, and carbon offsetting. Each of these projects has rooted us to a wider purpose, going beyond materiality and profitability, transforming our business through action.

Sustainability at CHR has also taken the form of proactive organisational and policy change. We are active members of the United Nations Global Compact and have a Science-Based Target in place. Additionally, in 2022 we became a Carbon Neutral business, and are currently developing a Net Zero Strategy and Roadmap, to be launched at the end of the financial year.

With each of these commitments and initiatives, CHR has positioned itself as a leading advisor for decision-makers across the life sciences and healthcare sectors. While most professional services firms are driven by profit and shareholder value, a common goal focusing on exponential growth with a focus on short-term outcomes, we decided early on that long-term value for our clients and an emphasis on people, planet and profit would drive our mission forward.

As we celebrate Sustainability Month at CHR, we will continue the process of translating meaningful sustainability initiatives into positive outcomes.
